Hi kshipper!
Congratulations on the post, it's very good for technicians and enthusiasts who use the brand. I'm from Argentina and I have a really tricky problem that has been driving me crazy for months. I suspect it's the motherboard, but I don't know what to think anymore...
First things first: -Ryzen 5 3600 -Gigabyte B450M DSH3 (F42h) -Corsair Vengeance 8 GB 2400 MHz x 2 -MSI Armor RX 570 4 GB -EVGA 600w Bronze -HDD 1 TB WD Blue (Windows 10 Pro x64)
The Problem: Random reboots, no screens, no event log, just reboots. When it happens, and tries to start again, it cannot and enters a loop, which doesn't go beyond the Win logo and reboots again. This can go on for a long time, until a "recovery error" screen appears, where I can choose the option to enter Windows 10 and (if I'm lucky) finally starts. Or just starts without any recovery. There's no tendency. It just happen randomly after 10 minutes or 10 hours or 10 days of use, no matter what I'm doing.
The Facts: -No temperature issues. -No energy issues, according to BIOS and several programs (I can't measure the PSU with a tester yet). -No disk issues. -No dirt issues. -No distribution issues. I have a NZXT s340 Elite cabinet.
What I tried: -Update the BIOS (from F40 to F42h). -Formatting and reinstallation. -Disassembled and reassembled. -Changing Sata ports. -Changing Ram slots. -Enable and disable XMP Profile (auto). -Setting voltages and frecuency to manual. -Starting USB Hiren's for example, it happens randomly too (never in BIOS).
The first time was 4 months ago, then it worked for 1 full month until it happened again. Then it was random, I couldn't determine a frequency anymore. I really don't know what else to do or try anymore. Quarantine prevents me from getting more tools or components for testing, therefore I cannot isolate the problem to a single component.
Any idea?

Raama; If there is anything you have gleaned from all my writings it's that most of the problems with this board are with Corsair's ram. I don't know why but it is a common theme. You should start with getting the BIOS to the latest version and I hope you payed attention to all the BIOS notes where it tells you what you need to do before you upgrade the BIOS. It also really depends on what BIOS version your board shipped with. F40 you are saying? Is that what your board came with? the 42H was a BETA BIOS so it is time to get her up to F50. Lets start with that.
If it is not there this could be your problem. I have found this kit to work 100% and it is cheap on Amazon/NewEgg >> Kingston 8gb 2666MHz kit HX426C16FB3K2/8
It's plug and play @ 2666MHz and XMP is off for that board
I'm not a AMD video card fan...because I had so many black screen problems that I gave up and went Nvidia and I gave up building machines with a spinning hard drive. As soon as you can ...get yourself a NVMe SSD like the Western Digital SN750 Black or a Samsung EVO Sata SSD ..you can get a small one if that helps save money and use the spinner to hold your games.

Hi guys, I recently bought this MB with a Ryzen 5 3600 and a Sapphire Nitro+ rx 580 and I'm having some issues with it. I found that if I want to use the RX with HDMI I have to have CSM disable but the damn thing keeps enabling itself back on whenever I unplug the HDMI and plug in a VGA cable through an active Display Port connection. The reason I'm doing this often is because my work laptop has only HDMI so I'm using the laptop and the PC plugged in at the same time in my monitor and I'm switching the signal between them as needed. Whenever I finish work I want to enjoy the 75 Hz Freesync option in my games and I can do that only by HDMI but the CSM option keeps enabling itself back on and I'm receiving a sound code error at the boot up. I have to mention the fact that this is to only setting that changes, everything else remains the same as I selected.
P.S: MB came with F50 out of the box
Also, I had to deactivate Performance Boost option in BIOS as the fans were going crazy and the temps were really high with an aftermarket cooler. Deactivating the boost option the CPU dropped to 3,6 GHz and the temps are staying at around 53 C. What should I change to have a stable 4,2 GHz frequency?
Scroll down to specifications and you will see that it is designed to run at 3.6GHz on all 6 cores but it can hit 4.2GHz on a single-core/single threaded application. You could use HWINFO to verify temps and core frequency under various loads

Hi thank you for reaching out to people like me who need tech help. Recently my computer has stopped giving a signal to my monitor, however all fans and rgb are running. I have tried to reseat just about everything (ram, gpu, cpu, ssd, hdd, and mobo cables) but the problem still persist. This exact problem happened about a month ago I fixed it with reseating the ssd. I have swapped out the psu from a rosewill hive 550 bronze to a seasonic focus and the cpu from a r52600 to a r73700. gpu 2060 super msi gaming x cpu r73700x psu seasonic focus 650 gold ram 16gb trident z 3600mhz ssd 256 inland m.2 hdd 2 tb segate barracuda

Hey danielg5088: So you are saying you have this all hooked up tp B450M DS3H mobo and it worked for a while (how long of a while?) and then one day it quit and you re-seated the SSD and that fixed the boot problem? AND now the boot problem is back and the old tricks are not working?
I have to ask..when you swapped out for the new PSU and the new CPU is that when the problems start or did it work OK with the new parts for a while?

Haha yah this on my b450 ds3h sorry how could I forgot lol. Yah the ryzen 52600 always worked fine and booted correctly for around a year and the problem did start when I upgraded my cpu. The psu was swapped during this issue as I was too lazy to put it in before but that didn’t fix the issue. I had also upgraded my ram earlier from Corsair vengeance 16gb 2600mhz to the trident z 16 go 3600mhz

Ahh OK well this could be a BIOS problem then. I know you are not going to want to do this, but you need to put the 2600 back in and see if it will POST. You might have to put the old RAM in too...because that was the configuration that last worked. I have a sneaky feeling you didn't upgrade the BIOS on the motherboard to handle the newer CPU.
Do you need me to find all the links for that and write out how to do that, or you good on your own?

Hi thanks for reaching out. Yah I didn’t update my bios when I upgraded hardware as the board was said to work for ryzen 3my mistake. I swapped out the cpu for the 2600 and the mobo still isn’t booting. I was unable to use my old ram as I’ve already sold it. But taking out the ssd and trying to run the ram one stick of ram hasn’t worked as well. I have an old computer that I can download the newest bios should I still do that if my system isn’t posting and I can’t get into the bios in the 2600?
...then it has to be a RAM issue. Maybe hunt for a GSkill Trident Z 16GB kit that is on the QVL. I have good luck with those kits and I use a LOT of Kingston 8GB kits

So I looked in the qvl for amd matisse cpu and I found the my ram was supported g.skill F4-3600C18D-16GTZRX. So I’m guessing it has to be a bios issue as I haven’t updated it, however my 3700x was booting fine for about a month. Should I download the bios to a usb stick and plug that in with my 2600 processor (that isn’t booting atm but should work fine). Thank you for the help happy 4th if you’re from the us.
