Thank you Gigabyte for supporting your very first X370 high end board with the F40 bios. It means that my next board will be another Gigabyte .
I was still on F25 since it was working perfectly, my copy of Windows 10 Pro runs the 1903 without a sweat (with the required up-to-date drivers).
What I did:
Went to the Bios to restore the default setting, then save and restart
Updated the F25 to F31 using the built-in Qflash software in Bios
On Windows, I turned Kaspersky off and then I ran EC FW Update Tool and after a restart without any kind of warning and a long black screen during post I was back on Windows 10. In the folder I extracted EC FW Update Tool to, I had a log file that said PASS.
Then I came back to Bios and used the Qflash utility to update to F40 this time. And … it works !
After a first try back in Windows, I went back to Bios and set everything back to suit my needs.
Did some testing but everything seems normal and it works fine. Only issue I ever had with this board was with the infamous F24 bios. I have mine since day one of its release with a 16GB Samsung B-Die DDR4-3200CL14 kit, and my current 2700X works as good as my old 1700.
Well done lads! Pretty pleased my board will not drop too much of its value due to an incompatibility with the 3000 series.

I replaced my Ryzen 7 1700x with a 3800x today. After reading about others' troubles, I was concerned that I might end up being able to run only a single ram stick, but everything went very smoothly. THIS is the very reason I bought into the AM4 platform within weeks of release in early 2017.
I updated from f25 bios to f31, then ran the EC FW Update Tool, which auto-rebooted when it was finished. Then I flashed the f40 bios, shut everything down, swapped in the new CPU, and started it up. It cycled through tons of codes on the LED readout for probably 2-3 full minutes before finally entering the bios on its own. XMP on ram is working, and performance seems great.
The only odd thing I've noticed is that some software (NZXT's CAM) is no longer accurately reporting CPU temperatures (reads a constant 50 degrees, no matter what). HWINFO64 seems to show true temperatures though, as does Ryzen Master, of course.
I was prepared for the worst. I ended up being very pleased.

New f41b bios is up. It lists the following changes:
1. Update AGESA 1.0.0.3 AB
2. Improve M.2 SSD compatibility
IF you have already followed the steps to properly flash the f40 bios, including the use of the EC FW update tool, THEN you won't need to do them again.
Please let us know if this new bios version fixes the NVMe issues some of you have been experiencing.
Thanks! I checked there originally but didn't see it. Checked a few minutes later it was there!
Wondering what others results are. I saw core voltage spiking above 1.455 causing the fan to spin up and down quite a bit. Disabled PBO and it seems to be behaving now.
Happy that my M.2 drive is recognized, but really looking forward to another update.
The bottom line advice is to install the latest bios available, install the newest chipset drivers from amd.com (version 1.07.07), use the Ryzen Balanced power profile, use only CPU-Z to monitor voltages, and if necessary, try turning off PBO. Many other monitoring tools (possibly even Ryzen Master?) are using a method to check voltages that actually causes voltages to spike on Ryzen 3000 cpus.

I have been keeping up on that. Followed all the suggestions you've mentioned. Still see it spiking regardless. Not sure if there's a rogue monitoring tool (I even read that iCue may cause issues so I killed that) or something BIOS related.

New F41 bios is up (prior was beta F41b). Traveling, so I won't be able to test it for a day or two. If anyone else does, please report here how things go for you. Thanks!

andreigrum wrote: Feb 18, 2021 8:42:19 GMT -8 Fixed by a Win reinstall to UEFI. Old install was non-UEFI and I guess this was causing the problem. Still since F11 was working this proves there might be an issue with no-UEFI installs on F20 and F30.

I tried all F2x/F3x, same behavior. Even reset btn stops working, so I have to keep Pwr btn pressed 10 sec. Thanks in advance :
