In the bios, change the PCI slot version from automatic to PCI version 2. Sorry I don't have the exact setting location in the bios, I'm not in front of my PC at the moment.

So is X399 support win7 or NOT I try everything I could do like turn off the IOMMU and check the memory and reinstall the driver of WIFI ,but when i used external hard drive try to copy something from it , it would keep causing D1 BSOD did anyone have any idea ??
First Go to bios, set Memory interleaving to Channel mode, set IOMMU (or something like that) to Disabled.
Then turn off the system and install them step by step. At First, install 2 DIMMs at 2A and 2B DDR slots. Then go to bios and turn XMP profile ON. Restart and make sure it is running at XMP profile and make sure both slots are recognised.
Then install 2 more DIMMs at 2C and 2D. Restart, go to bios, make sure all dimm slots are recognised and XMP profile is working.
Turn off and install last 4 dimms..." you know the rest...
Thank you, I just removed 16GB and now I can run it at 2666MHz, performance increase in Cinebench went from 2500 points to 2700 points in Multithread, impressive.
I'll sell the removed kit, 16GB is enough for me at the moment.
These boards are extremely picky about memory. Some tips:
1. Look on the QVL memory list. Very, Very important! Some sticks are only supported when using 4, and a very few are supported using all 8 dimm slots.
2. If you are filling only half the slots, put your dimms in the slot that is farthest away from the CPU sockets. These sill be the 2nd slot for each channel (*2 or A2, B2, C2 and D2). The manual is a little strange when documenting dimm placement for each slot. If you put it in the *1 slots, you are pretty much guaranteed to have a system crashing a lot on you.
Just RMA'd mine and got it back 2 days ago. Let me list some known issues... & other details.
-Did not come with anti static bag, thus the mobo during shipping ground down the inside of the box -LAN isint even turning on and no hardware ID's (literally no hardware to detect) -intel wifi hardware isint detected, no hardware IDs now using thumb-drive type wifi temporarily right now ---this is not good, the entire PCI link to the sub-hardware is broken in the bios. -randomly wont boot, takes several attempts to get to post (freezing in first few sec) -most recent bios bricked the board (F10) requiring RMA in the first place... -no socket cover, even after RMA they didn't put one on -RAM is QVL certified and tested (kit) G.skill TridentZ RGB 2400mhz. Tested... fine, over and over just in case.
After the recent F10 BIOS that bricked the board and TRUST me I tried flashing again using USB method 20+ times (which did flash it, but still bricked indicative of bad BIOS memory). Manually clearing (dont do this unless you build & know PCB's) the BIOS EEPROM memory (backup & MAIN) + reflash = same result. This motherboard is gone sorta. Ironically it worked before F10 BIOS!?!!? …
Got it back after a week and a half from Gigabyte with a 'no problems found under multiple hardware configurations', yet they did reflash the BIOS it does start to work but then random 'weirdness' begins. There is PCI issues, ram timing is all over the map and sometimes works sometimes dosent. XMP RAM profiles that once worked well prior to F10 no longer work. OK downgrade to previous known working BIOS. Working much better but its random. Getting boot sequence stalling at PCH,PCI or any other random point. Is it the RAM? Really? Test ram again (its fine).
Obviously I removed any non essential hardware, tried nvidia GPU's, AMD RX480's (I have several). Downclocking RAM to 1333MHz and pushing the CPU VRM up really high allowed me to start windows installation (thus with no networking hardware now), Im typing this on a fresh install of windows now but the system is really limping along.
Going back to the RMA... Nothing wrong under multiple hardware configs. I need to disclose I am in college now getting a systems administrations degree and am A+ certified already. I tested this system with the help of other friends who are 'real' IT's over beers and were all at a loss. Each individual stick of ram got the hell beat out of it. Sometimes it would boot, sometimes it wouldn't. Sometimes the system would boot under fine under normal 2400mhz XMP speed, sometimes it wouldn't. Then the LAN hardware just vanished along with the wifi hardware. Im seriously thinking there is a EMF issue, or a voltage regulator is bad on this board and all the tinkering is acting as a crutch leading us in the wrong directions.
Gigabyte sending the board back with 'no problems found' with no elaboration as to their methodology pisses me off. Im an ASUS guy, or was. But did they even attempt to boot an OS with this thing? It wont even boot with a single stick of RAM yet it boots with the entire 32GB KIT-RAM in quad channel config fine . Sometimes dual channel (2 sticks) works and sometimes the same sticks wont but under torture testing (with PAID industrial software) they all pass - wtf?!? BTW the board is capable of running on 1 stick. Funny side note - the print on my mobo have the WRONG RAM slot ID's, the instruction book has them listed correctly (eg. 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B, 4A, 4B...) jesus.... Their ass backwards if you look at the ID's on the actual mobo.
Rolling back the BIOS to I believe F3J worked way the hell better cos after 5+ hours in attempts it decided to randomly 'work!' perfectly again…. Is this board cursed?! This is easily the last gigabyte Im ever buying and its probably going to get sent back again. LUCKILY they sent it to me (from Los Angeles and Im in Northern California) with an anti static bag LOL - I wrote a nice note to the tech about this and stuffed it in with the mobo when it left.
It kinda makes me sick after my spouse gave me a ton of cash to buy this as a present (I like to do a lot of CAD & video transcoding with an occasional round of battlefield, so the TR1950X was perfect for this) and the platform is hamstrung by this POS motherboard with half working BIOSs. Im probably going to buy the Asus board next month and retire the Gigbyte Titanic.
I've done a lot of tweaking and OC'ing with mine and when you have a lot of DIMMS try pushing the (I forget the name exactly cos Ive had a few beers) VOC load line calibration up higher. Not the CPU LLC. The RAM needs more support current when dealing with larger banks requiring a lot more current. Whats happening is the that voltage when all the ram is active is causing VDROOP and the voltage basically drops below specification. Intel boards have the same issue especially in the era of the i7 3930k ect. They remedied this with much stronger controllers. Just bump the LLC up to high or performance mode but I would avoide extreme performance mode unless you absolutely need it cos itll make a lot of extra heat. I idle at 34c, but with an VOC LLC up really high youll start idling around 50c (get it?). just be aware of this.
Before my gigabyte x399 took a dump I was getting 3GHz from 2400MHz 4 sticks of kit ram easily with no LLC changes.
Also... the VRM phase control - give it a gentle bump to performance or about. That's extra support current from the mobo.

I just purchased the Aorus Pro X399 Amd version and this board is an absolute disaster. I cant install Windows 7 because my usb ports don't work on POST even though I enabled legacy usb support and full initiate option for USB when enabling fastboot option, I get A5 code when this USB issue happens. It had F2 version bios already installed, I tried flashing and downgrading to F1 bios as well and that made my problem even worse. My board did come with anti static bag but no black CPU pin cover. Come on Gigabyte what a joke you have become. I submitted an RMA to Newegg and can only getva replacement not a refund.

All the usb ports on ryzen and threadripper are controlled through the chipset. There are no chipset drivers for windows 7, and there never will be. You will need to use windows 10, or linux. you can get basic functionality using a pcie usb card that is old enough to be supported by windows 7 out of the box without needing drivers, but you will have to do the research to determine which card will work for you and be aware that whatever ports you have on that card are will most likely be all you will ever have.
My Signature... I do not work for gigabyte. My advice and opinions are my own.
