I just received the x399 board and I was extremely excited to create an unboxing video. Which I did.
Either the board is not ready for the public or I received a bad board.
* I can go into BIOS without a problem. * Board did not come with an Anti static bag. * I upgraded the BIOS to the latest from the website. (f2k) * I can install Windows 7, but with no USB support. I need to use the virtual keyboard to type anything in, Then install the drivers. * Windows 10 halts at the logo, then stops. With either DVD disk or USB. * I tested the RAM with MEMtest86, all good. * Memory is TridentZ RGB 3000Mhz 14-14-14-34 * CPU is the 1950x * The DB_Port shows A3 when trying to install Windows 10. * COM Surrogate stops responding
Is it a bad board?

X399 Gaming 7 - RAM Issues
Did yours come with a CPU socket cover protector, not the clear plastic tray that you replace, but the black socket cover you pull out prior to closing the tray onto the pins? Just curious as mine did not. Also mine did not come in an anti static bag either.

You guys are not alone; I too received a board that was not in its static bag. It was missing the black pin cover for the socket but had the clear cover in the rail. Also, I had fingerprints on foxconn socket which looked like thermal grease. My thinking was that they were QA before being boxed.
I wasn't able to boot once I got everything installed. I was about to create an RMA through newegg but I ended troubleshooting my cables and found out that my new mobo cable was bad. I have like 2 spares so that was an easy fix. Besides that, everything seems to work fine. I'm just having trouble with my Ram timings.
The fingerprints did take the luster out of buying the beautiful board.

Ah yes, the finger prints were on mine too. I'm interested in knowing more about your RAM timing issues. I can't get all 8 DIMMs to even let me POST. I have an entire separate thread on it though and don't want to hijack this one.
Overall, I'm fairly unpleased with this board. Had the Zenith Extreme not been sold out (and had Amazon not failed to stock enough for their preorders) I would have gone that route..

Which cable are you referring to?
Thanks for sharing! I'm hoping I won't have to return it, but it's not looking good.

Amazon is notorius for taking more pre-orders than they can fulfill and they would have no date for when it would be fulfilled. I too was thinking about getting that board. I personally have a Crosshair 6 which I freaking love. I wanted to give Gigabyte a shot since their boards are beautiful. For $550 I thought the Zenith would look a little better but the one thing that they do have is support since so many folks have bought that board. Anyhow, we all have to start from somewhere with this forum.
I haven't been able to do anything beyond 2100mhz with factory timings on my gskill 3200mhz rgb 32gb. It's not currently on the QVL but I hope they get it working cause I really don't want to drop $400 on another ram kit.

Not any cable with the Aorus Gaming 7 board but my EVGA G3 1000w 24-Pin ATX cable. I switched to my EVGA G2 atx cable and it booted fine afterwards.
Yes, mine came with the semi-clear CPU socket cover.
I spoke with newegg, getting a full refund. I can't have this. I've been an Intel guy for years and always purchased Gigabyte over any other brand. My entire fleet is Gigabyte, but Intel. This is my first AMD Gigabyte board and will be my last. If this is how they roll out hardware on flagship CPUs, what does that mean for the lower end boards for AMD? Just wow....
Very disappointed! I've recommended my youtube subscribers to stay clear of the board and buy something else..

X399 Gaming 7 - RAM Issues
I'm in a chat with NewEgg right now to return this board. I was able to get an order placed for the Zenith Extreme this afternoon and I'm sick and tired of waiting on Gigabytes non-exsistant technical support team to get back to me. We're on the bleeding edge, so problems are to be expected.. I just expected a little more out of Gigabyte in terms of support.

This thread doesn't describe the problem I'm having, but you guys have convinced me to RMA my board and go with the Zenith.
Here's what I've got:
On Windows 10 Pro, I get BSOD constantly. The BSOD stops if I take the two ram sticks out of channels 3-4 and only run the remaining two sticks in channels 1-2.
Thought I had a bad RAM stick (and I wanted to upgrade anyway) so I spent $400 on new RAM only to find out I was having the same problem.
I installed Ubuntu 16.04.... everything works PERFECT. No errors, no freezes. Everything is fine. Decided to format the hard drive and install Windows 10 Pro again, and back to the same exact errors.
Being as my specific problem seems to be rare/nonexistent, I've got to figure at this point that my board is bad. Not being able to run the machine on a fresh Windows install seems suspect, especially since it runs fine in Ubuntu.

I had constant BSODs, too. It turns out it was an outdated Intel Wireless Driver. I had to install the one from the support page manually (no cd-drive), using a thumb-drive.
