So P-State overclocking is a finer grained overclocking method which will allow my CPU to idle at lower speeds when possible, unlike traditional overclocking on Ryzen CPUs. My question is:

Does any Gigabyte motherboard support this?
Does my motherboard (B350M-D3H) support this?
If not, will we be able to get this through a future BIOS update?

At the very least, does Gigabyte have any plans to support P-State Overclocking on any of their boards?

Hello,

After discuss with BIOS team, we don’t plan to add P-states into released BIOS for now.here

However. A workaround is to use Ryzen Master to overclock via Windows. You will notice that once your overclocked settings are applied, the CPU will still clock back on idle. It's not impossible for Gigabyte to make some code up for P-State overclocking, they are more than likely just lazy.

According to ket of win-raid Gigabyte actually is not lazy, but working hard to block options and introduce new bugs to their bios's. This leaves even their highest end boards off less flexible than the competition. Which is odd since Gigabyte have no better boards to offer the features on, which would otherwise make sense, in case they wanted artificially differentiate the features of the boards according to purchase price.

Mind you, other vendors even have B350 boards which allow you to adjust P-states.
At win-raid you'd see bios's with P-state adjustment re-enabled for Gaming, Gaming 3, 5, K5, K7 and other boards. But I have no idea how well they work.

I guess the message from the support them should actually be:
After discussion (right..) with the BIOS team, we don’t plan to stop blocking P-states adjustment of the BIOS's.

Which just seems sad. : /

I don't know who this ket guy is but what he says is plain stupid. He just unblocked a few features on Gigabyte boards and started saying all the bad stuff about them. What does it tell you? He is doing this to gain publicity which we are giving him by standing by his lame claims. Why would big company like Gigabyte disable features? There probably is a reason behind it. BIOS for most of the boards are not stable and adding new features on top is only going to make things worse. Let us not jump into conclusions and give gigabyte some time. Those who can't wait should just flash ket's bios if they believe him more than gigabyte. No one is stopping anyone.

Asus did that too. They did have pstates OC on all there board, But they removed it from all cheap board and left it on there flagship.

I think the reason for that is that somehow it stay saved somewhere (non-cmos) so it was possible to set P0 with something impossible like 4.2Ghz at 1v and then it was bricking the board... Couples of people did even use that trick to return there board ( it's broken

) and get a different model/brand...

I don't know if gigabyte did have similar problem. Because the pstates are... extremely easy to implement. If I was able to hardcode pstate OC in my bootloader when I did use the Gaming3 as my main PC, then I'm pretty sure that Gigabyte can implement it in there BIOS extremely easily. They eater go a bug similar than the issue ASUS got and don't want to risk return due to bricked board of peoples who don't test pstates in software first or.. they are indeed extremely lazy or they don't want to spend any time on these board and concentrate all on the Intel platform but.. They do have it on the Gaming K7 right? If so why they don't use the programmer's most used function (ctrl-c, ctrl-v)?
