X299, 7900X, AORUS Gaming 7
Hi, all. I have done a lot of tests with my new delidded 7900X and Gaming 7 system. The highest frequency it can go didn't disappoint me. But the related problems must be solved in the future.
The main problem which is most important is the VRM heatsink. I am not sure what is going on with it, but the VRM temp can hit extreme high temperature 111°C. Keep in mind that the overclocking setting is only [email protected] with 1.111V and [email protected] with 1.2000V. Under such a low voltage, it is still like a melting pot and you could use it to cook your eggs, sunny side up, not bad!
Not joking, I just want to know is it possible for Gigabyte to design and make an independent VRM heatsink so that we can buy it to replace the current one on our board.
Please let us know.
Thank!

I would check your VCCIN (try 1.8) and aim a fan at the VRM if you are concerned about the temperature, however outside of Prime95 I do not think you will be able to get the VRM that hot under any normal (even heavy 24/7) loads. Prime95 seems to draw much more power than any other benchmark I have seen run on the X299 platform and should in no way be used as a representation of typical real world usage scenarios.

I don't own a 7900x just a 7820x so i can just talk about the experience with that. I just activated the Enhanced Multicore performance(not exactly sure how to write) and my VRM's are at 52 Degrees with the gaming 7 even after 1 hour of OCCT stresstest. I give you a point Prime 95 will burn your VRMS. Also tried it but after 20 minutes i quited because the 320 Watts power usage heated my VRMS up to 96 Degrees. And why should you change a passiv cooler with a passiv one. Get a Monoblock of EKWB. I've already written to their PR Guy on Overklockers.net and he said there will be a monoblock for the gaming 7 and 9.
you should see if the thermal pad is correctly seated
also 111c is considered normal for VRM temperatures its not a gigabyte standard
using prime 95 AVX version and de cpu at full power uneleashd at 4.9 for big session i get 77c TOPS on the vrm and i have the AIR con in the room off so if its on temps are more stable
i did make a mod when that VRM video from Der8baur came up just becouse iam not in front of the pc for hours when iam stress testing and no the temps are 60´s c on a complety stupid situation that the cpu will never get in real life 300 W and spikes on the 380 400w is not real and on that numbers my temps are cool as north pole

desperate because of X299 chipset architecture
You're doing something wrong. I'm running stock vCore [and all others] on 4.5 - 4.7 GHz, while gaming for hours, my VRMs never pass 60°C [~57-59°] and in synthetic benchmarks [AiDA, Prime, etc.], I'm unable to get past 70°C.
I have Gaming 9, afaik, it has the same VRM heatsink as Gaming 7. And I don't believe in bad design of VRM heatsinks, at all. It's a hoax for me.

totallypissedoff wrote: Feb 16, 2019 5:02:17 GMT -8 grichie Try downloading, and installing the Aorus Graphics Engine directly from the Gigabyte website. Installing from the disk is not the best idea, as it is most likely an older version of the software.

I turned it on thinking I could setup two NVME drives in a stripe, but when I enabled Easy Raid, I found the NVME drives don't show up in the list, and th the existing SATA SSD no longer properly boot

vanowm wrote: Feb 8, 2019 15:25:27 GMT -8 joaomonteiro, try another power supply, then remove/unplug everything except power supply, then add cpu, next ram. Test it after each step, If not changes between all these steps, then I'd say it's dead.
